Adding an Investment

Step-by-step guide to adding a new investment and configuring its cashflow details.

How to add an investment

  1. Click Investments in the sidebar
  2. Click the + Add Investment button in the top right
  3. Fill in the required fields
  4. Required fields

    • Name — a descriptive label (e.g., "123 Oak St Rental" or "XYZ Mortgage Note")
    • Type — select the investment type (see Investment Types article)
    • Amount — the total invested capital
    • Monthly Payment — what you pay toward this investment each month (debt payments, premiums, etc.)
    • Cashflow — net monthly income this investment generates after all expenses

    Optional fields

    • Expenses — monthly operating costs (repairs, property management, insurance)
    • Interest Rate — APR if this is a debt-backed investment
    • Start Date / Maturity Date — term tracking
    • Transaction Link — link to Paperstac or your servicer portal
    • Funding Source — how you funded it (personal cash, policy loan, HELOC)

    Saving

    Click Save and the investment immediately appears in your portfolio and updates your dashboard cashflow totals.
